Get back to living your life—sooner, rather than later.

EMDR Intensive Therapy in Athens, Ohio

You know something is holding you back, and you know you need to do something about it.

You’ve had enough of letting events from your past ruin the present, and are more than ready to finally move forward. Maybe you’ve even done EMDR before, but felt there wasn’t enough time in each session to really get to the root of the issue. EMDR intensives allow you the time and space to dig into what’s holding you back from the life you want—and then get back to actually living it.

MAYBE YOU…

  • Whether you’re bracing yourself for a family gathering, a big work presentation, a legal proceeding, a medical procedure, or another potentially stressful life event, you want to feel as stable as you can going into it. A customized EMDR intensive plan can help you address the root cause of your anxiety and feel confident as this event comes to pass.

  • A recent experience might have shaken you to your core, making it difficult to get through the day or even think clearly. Sometimes, it feels like you can’t escape the constant, intrusive thoughts, especially when past therapy sessions haven’t really helped you resolve everything. EMDR intensive therapy can help us hone in on processing what happened and give you a real sense of relief more quickly than traditional therapy.

  • If you’ve already been doing the work in weekly therapy, but feel like the same issues keep resurfacing, it can be hard to continue making forward progress. EMDR intensive sessions can help unlock what’s keeping you stuck, and get back in touch with who you really are.

  • When your to-do list is as long as the day, it’s tough to find the time for regular therapy. Even though you know it helps, things always seem to come up, and you can’t figure out how to fit it into your busy life. EMDR intensives allow you to get the deep healing you’re looking for on a more accelerated track that suits your schedule.

An in-depth therapy experience that’s flexible to your needs.

Along with single-focus intensive packages, which can include up to 3 intensive sessions focused on one issue, I also provide ongoing intensive sessions, which consist of a 2-3 hour session per week over as many weeks as needed.

Whether you’re interested in processing a single event that’s been weighing on you or in diving deeper into lifelong patterns, we’ll work together to figure out which path forward is right for you.

My approach

Personalized support on a timeline that works for you.

Once we’ve discussed your needs in a free consultation and agreed that EMDR intensives are a good fit, the first step is to schedule an intake session. In this 60-minute session, we’ll explore your history and what you’d like to focus on. Then, I’ll provide a customized workbook to be completed before our intensive session(s), which will help guide your thoughts and set you up for a more focused and productive experience.

If you're looking to focus on a specific memory or incident,

We’ll use our pre-intensive session to identify that target and make sure you have the tools to manage any emotions that come up. We’ll also decide together whether you’d benefit most from 1, 2, or 3 intensive sessions focused on this target. The intensive sessions themselves are designed to move through processing this memory or incident efficiently, with each session lasting 2-3 hours. We’ll also have a follow-up session to check in on how you're feeling and discuss how to integrate the new insights gained into your life.

For those who want to explore ongoing intensive therapy,

We’ll create a customized plan for in-depth work over multiple weeks. This usually includes a more detailed pre-intensive workbook, which will help us navigate through the layers of your experiences in our time together. We’ll check in regularly throughout our sessions to ensure our work is continuously productive and helping you make the progress you want to make.

Whichever intensive structure you opt for, the goal is the same:

To help you feel less anxious, more in control, and ready to move forward with your life.

EMDR Intensives can help you…

  • Feel like the past is truly in the past

  • Find more peace and greater self-confidence in daily life

  • Let go of anxiety about history repeating itself

  • Shed guilt and shame

  • Heal from PTSD and gain a new sense of stability

…at a faster pace than traditional weekly therapy.

It’s time to make real progress toward a brighter future.
